Multifamily Buildings
Introduction
Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates are available for Multifamily Buildings. Building owners can explore a variety of residential efficiency measures through Georgia's Home Efficiency Rebates (HER).
Program Eligibility
Program eligibility for Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates Multifamily program is determined by income and is assessed on a building-wide basis. Here’s how it works across both programs:
HER Income Eligibility
Multifamily Home Efficiency Rebates (HER): A whole building energy efficiency program available to a wider range of incomes. Rebate amounts are tied to the building’s income level, the type of work being done, and modeled energy savings.
| Energy Savings | Income Level | Rebate Amount and Incentive Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| 20 - 34% | At least 50% of households with incomes less than 80% AMI | Lesser of $10,000 per dwelling unit or 98% of project cost |
| At least 50% of households with incomes 80% AMI and greater | Lesser of $2,000 or 50% of project cost up to $200,000 per building | |
| 35% or greater | At least 50% of households with incomes less than 80% AMI | Lesser of $16,000 per dwelling unit or 98% of project cost |
| At least 50% of households with incomes 80% AMI and greater | Lesser of $4,000 or 50% of project cost up to $400,000 per building |
Eligible Building Types
For the purposes of Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates, Multifamily buildings are defined as a single building containing at least two dwelling units used for residential purposes. Building eligibility for the HER program is limited to existing buildings (including gut rehabilitation and adaptive reuse).
