Fuel Switching HEAR Projects: Submission Deadline

On May 29, 2026, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued updated program guidance for the Home Energy Rebates initiative, which includes changes that will impact Georgia’s program implementation. 

DOE’s updated guidance (see Program Notice 26-2) must be implemented by August 31, 2026.

To meet this requirement, fuel switching HEAR scopes of work must be submitted by 10:00 am ET on August 10, 2026. After this date, fuel switching projects will no longer be accepted, and only electric-to–higher-efficiency electric upgrades will be eligible. 

Contractor Action Required: Contractors should prioritize submission of fuel switching projects and work toward complete applications to avoid delays. Additional details will be shared during Contractor Office Hours on July 15.
